Saffeya started out as a film publicist before making the move into casting in 2021, after graduating from the National Film & Television School’s Casting Certificate. She joined The Old Vic as their in-house Casting Assistant, before progressing to Casting Coordinator earlier this year, and supports freelance casting directors across productions, as well as often leading on casting for workshops, readings and monologue series’.
Recent productions she has worked on for The Old Vic include the upcoming Pygmalion (directed by Richard Jones), Jack Thorne’s A Christmas Carol (directed by Matthew Warchus), Mike Bartlett’s The 47th (directed by Rupert Goold), August Wilson’s Jitney (directed by Tinuke Craig), and Jonathan Spector’s Eureka Day (directed by Katy Rudd).

Stephen has over a decade of experience in directing, both as a lead director, most recently on MCDONALD AND DODDS for Mammoth Screen/ITV as well as directing second unit on notable series' including LONDON KILLS (BBC/Acorn TV) and FIFTEEN-LOVE (World Productions/Amazon UK).
Over the last few years, he has been mentored by Peter Hoar, originally as part of the Directors UK Inspire Mentor Scheme, and has worked with numerous household names such as Aidan Turner, Olivia Colman and Jason Watkins. He also directed the wonderful Dermot Crowley, in his most recent short HAROLD AND MARY, a moving and personal story of a man struggling with dementia, which had a very successful run at various BIFA and BAFTA qualifying festivals earlier this year.
Stephen’s focus in both his original ideas as well as his directing work is socio-political dramas and intriguing thrillers. With a deep-rooted commitment to honest and meaningful filmmaking, he is always striving to bring authentic visuals to the screen, serving the narrative and the characters at its core.

Millie is a freelancer working in casting she is currently at Rachel Freck. She started her career with Casting Director Gemma Sykes, after an internship with Dan Hubbard. She then moved over to talent management, and spent nearly two years at Independent Talent Group, before joining Sam Jones Casting at the beginning of 2020. She is currently working on projects for Amazon, ITV, the BBC and The National.

Olivia Brittain is an experienced film and TV casting associate, having worked with casting director Jina Jay on projects including ‘Enola Holmes’ and ‘Black Mirror’ for Netflix, ‘The Night Manager’ and ‘The Little Drummer Girl’ for BBC/AMC and ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ for LucasFilm. Most recently she has worked on the live-action ‘Halo’ series for Showtime as co-casting director.

Afternoon Session: • Chemistry Reads: Work with a partner on paired scenes to experience recall-style auditions and chemistry tests. • Collaborative Coaching: Gemma will guide you through adjustments and give insights into what casting directors are really looking for during these critical stages.

Gemma has been working in casting for over 25 years, most recently as a casting director for the in-house casting department at the BBC, working on Casualty, Father Brown and Sister Boniface Mysteries. As a highly experienced workshop leader, Gemma is now primarily concentrating on working as an acting coach, working with actors individually or in a workshop setting, covering auditioning for screen, how to approach a self-tape, how to present showreels and screen acting technique.
With a career spanning television, film and theatre, Gemma and her partner Sam Stevenson were nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for their work on the BBC 1 adaptation of Emma.

Becky is currently the associate at Andy Pryor Casting. Before that she worked at Lucinda Syson and then Jina Jay Casting; well known for their work across Film and TV, most notably on Black Mirror (2016-2019), Bird Box (2018) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). Prior to Jina Jay Casting, Becky worked in Commercial casting with Lesley Beastall on various commercial projects.
